I was recently talking with one of my friends and we got into a discussion about dark visors in the NFL, a topic I know little about. When I mentioned that dark visors are usually not allowed on the field, my friend asked me why. After some research, I discovered the fascinating history and implications of dark visors in the NFL.
To begin with, dark visors are not banned outright in the NFL. In fact, it used to be commonplace for players to wear them to lower the brightness of the field lights and make on-field vision more comfortable. However, the rules of the NFL recently changed, and visors are no longer considered necessary safety equipment. Now, if players are caught wearing dark visors, they could face hefty fines and penalties.
My friend then asked me why dark visors became a “no-go” in the NFL. From my research, I found out that a lot of different factors are at play. For one, some players or teams are seen as using dark visors to gain an unfair edge on the field. Secondly, dark visors have been associated with a ” thug-like” attitude which turns off some people, especially older generations. And lastly, it seems that dark visors prevent facial recognition which could weaken instant replay technology.
It seems that dark visors were once a popular way to reduce the brightness of the playing field, but now some players decided to turn them into a form of self-expression. Some claim that the NFL should not try to control what players wear, as it is a personal choice. But other players think that dark visors gives a bad “thug” image and should be banned entirely.
In my opinion, the issue of dark visors is an interesting one. While personally, I think players should be allowed to make their own decisions, I can see why the NFL has made this rule. I think we should be respectful that the NFL is trying to create an atmosphere that speaks of the professionalism and respect of the sport.
Furthermore, I think that it is our responsibility to take into consideration how dark visors will affect our own team. When it comes to something as important as the safety of the players, it makes sense for the NFL to impose certain restrictions regarding dark visors.
At the end of the day, I believe that dark visors should be allowed in the NFL as long as the players use them in a safe manner. This means that the visors must meet the standards set by the NFL in terms of safety, and the players should understand the risks associated with wearing them. This way, players could still have the option of wearing dark visors if they decide to take the risk.
Additionally, I think that the NFL should be more open to allowing players to express themselves through dark visors. With some restrictions of course, there are must be a way for players to have more freedom when it comes to the look and style of their uniforms. After all, shouldn’t everyone have the right to express themselves?
These are just some thoughts I had on dark visors in the NFL. They might seem a little polarizing, but whatever the end result, I believe it’s will be for the betterment of the sport.
