When it comes to NFL scores, something that has never happened is something that I find particularly interesting. I grew up watching football with my family, and we would talk about scores that seemed almost impossible to come true. I remember discussing one game in particular that had a score of 112-10. We all thought it was crazy to think that a team could win a game by such a large margin, and the conversation carried on for hours!
The first thing we discussed was how improbable such a score would be. We pointed out that in the NFL, teams are usually pretty well-matched and the margin of victory is normally much lower than that. We also talked about the different scenarios that could lead to such a large score and discussed the amount of skill and luck that would be necessary for it to happen.
We then moved on to some of the crazy records that have been set in the NFL over the years. One record that always stands out to me was the Chicago Bears’ 1945 win streak of 25 games, which is still the longest ever recorded. This conversation opened up a world of possibilities for us, as we could imagine the kind of scores that would be needed to hit streaks like that.
We also talked about some hypotheticals. We discussed how unlikely it would be for a team to score 100 points and how hard it would be for another to keep them from reaching that number. We discussed what kind of offensive and defensive strategy a team would need to employ to achieve those types of scores, which was a great mental exercise for us all.
The conversation then turned to how unlikely it would be for an NFL score to stay low and completely avoid boasted numbers. We hypothesized that scores like 6-3 or 3-0 could happen due to the defensive tactics used, but such a score would certainly be rare. I’m sure the conversation would have gone on for much longer, but unfortunately, I had to get up for work the next morning!
The conversation stayed with me for ages. I still think about NFL scores that have never happened and the possibilities they open up. It’s fascinating to think about teams playing at the highest level and matching each other perfectly to create scores like never before. It’s collected my imagination and has kept me dreaming about football for years now.
What I find most interesting is the thought of such insane scores coming to fruition. It’s hard to fathom that today’s NFL teams could match the skill level and coaching necessary to create these scores. I don’t think it will ever happen, but it sure is fun to think about it!
It’s also fun to think about how history could have been changed with certain unlikely scores. A single number could have an enormous impact on the course of a team’s season or their entire franchise. Even though a score that has never happened is unlikely to ever become reality, it sure is a fun concept to explore.
